Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an unauthenticated
attacker to execute arbitrary code on a targeted system.
## 3\. TECHNICAL DETAILS
### 3.1 AFFECTED PRODUCTS
The following versions of jSerialComm, a platform-independent serial
communication for Java, are affected:
* Version 2.2.2 and prior
Schneider Electric reports the vulnerability affects the following EcoStruxure
IT Gateway versions:
* Versions 1.5.x, 1.6.x, 1.7.x

vendors.
### 3.2 VULNERABILITY OVERVIEW
#### 3.2.1 [UNCONTROLLED SEARCH PATH ELEMENT
CWE-427](https://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/427.html)
An uncontrolled search path element vulnerability could allow a malicious DLL
file with the same name of any resident DLLs inside the software installation
to execute arbitrary code.
[CVE-2020-10626](http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2020-10626)
has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.8 has been
calculated; the CVSS vector string is

Initiative reported this vulnerability to CISA.
## 4\. MITIGATIONS
Fazecast, Inc., recommends users update jSerialComm to [Version 2.3 or
later](https://github.com/Fazecast/jSerialComm/releases).
Schneider Electric recommends users upgrade EcoStruxure IT Gateway to [Version
1.8.1 or later](https://helpcenter.ecostruxureit.com/hc/en-
us/articles/360012105013).
